Hispanics College Students In America

I found this video to be rather relevant to Persepolis in a way, and also realistic about cultural assimilation. In Persepolis, Marjane leaves here home town and culture to go to another environment that would be unfamiliar to her. Because of this environmental change, her ways of acting and thinking have to change, and this happens with everyone. I can relate to these Mexican students because I know first hand how different it is having to change a way of thinking you grew up with and accepting it as yourself. Coming from an immigrant family, i found fitting into American culture was hard and I was a small kid, imagine these 18 or older kids having to go through a process of trying to re-learn and change things about yourself that you have believed in for 18 years. Assimilation is harder as you get older and I can only sympathize with these students. But I believe if you are able to do this when it's statistically harder, you become a better person.
