Revolutions Fueled by Art
After watching the Art In Exile, Ted Talk, I felt a sense of humiliation and sadness. It is upsetting to see that today still there are countries that are ran by corruption, a Government that is willing to do anything in its means to remain in constant power. Neshat in a way is a lot V in the movie. V stood as a symbol for his nation and gave his nation hope. Neshat is doing the exact same thing just through her art. She explains how her art contains more meanings than words could even explain. Neshat's art provides her nation with hope for revolution and give the weak strength. Her art was supposed to gain political views and change the way people thought. In a way Neshat is the "ideas" that V said he was in the film. The idea that Neshat represents to me, is the idea of being united and free. To break away from corruption and make sure it remains out of office. Neshat has lived a very tough life and its sad to hear her story. I never understood how someone would be willing to die for everyone else in their country until I watched this. I gained new luster through this video and it advanced my knowledge of Iranian culture.
