My inquiry project is about the controversial idea that people -mainly the American people- have an addiction to shopping. My research will go in-depth on the actual scientific (emotional and chemical) pulls to buying excessively. It will touch on how consumerism has defined our country, and the effects of our spending habits in the economy. I will include background information on the history of capitalism, consumer-holidays, over-spending and borrowing (the change in banking) in the United States. Lastly, I will touch on how our spending habits effect the world in an environmental way.
These are some of the things I wish to include in my paper, however it is completely possible that I may only focus on one of these subjects.
