Hispanic Stories
This interview was very enlightening to listen to because it made me more aware of the struggles that other cultures face when living in another country where your race is not the majority. To be totally honest, sometimes I do get annoyed when I walk into a store and see a sign that has writing in English and then in Spanish because I feel that everyone should be treated equally; therefore why isn't there also writing in Arabic, or German, or French? Now seeing where these students are coming from, I get a different view on the way that Marjane lives in her society of judgement and I see how she must feel out of place especially when she has her own views on the way that she chooses to live her life. Everyone and their cultures has something to contribute to our societies and instead of being judgmental of their ways of life and ideas, it's best to be rather accepting as we can grow from the insight and knowledge that other cultures acknowledge.
