Gallery Walk
The Gallery walk was definitely a positive experience for me, in a slightly negative way. It was beneficial for me to see my progress, or lack there of, and just the act of talking about my project helped me clarify what I was doing. Also it was very interesting to listen to others ideas, and learn a little about what they are interested in.

Fall Symposium Reflection
On thursday, night and I attended the Fall Symposium, and I stayed there for the first section which included three speakers in room 206. Each give their own speech about their research on a certain book, the one thing that was similar between them was in how they describe characters or subjects as symbol to something and what it meant. Example was a speaker name Victoria, who used a woman and her life’s as a comparison to Germany downfall after World War 2 and how she laid in the states it’s in. The overall experience of the the whole thing was very enjoyable and would recommend other to take a look because the people go very in-depth about their research.

Gallery Walk Reflection
During the gallery walk, I got to explain my project multiple times. I thought it was helpful because I was hearing myself explain what I'm going to prove and how my paper will go. I was able to clarify what my subject was going to be on. Some people asked questions that I knew the answers to so that made me feel good about my research. I also got a few helpful tips on expanding my research to different perspectives. I am pretty confident on my paper now and how I will put everything together.
Fall Symposium Reflection Extra Credit
At the symposium, the key note speaker spoke about Connected Learning which is basically a new form of learning. The main ways of learning in that sense were, making, hacking and playing. Making meaning, making new things, hacking meaning, tinkering with what is already made, and I did not quite get what playing meant. Then he talked about literacy gaps between generations which made me think of the article we read in the beginning of the semester "Why can't Johnny Never Ever Read". Then at the first session, Mark Smith, Derek Swain and Athena Murphy all presented their papers and ideas on what's in Mark Twain's Pudd'n. Smith opened up the presentations by talking about how the reader and the author have "shared responsibility" in making the meaning of a book. He then continued to explain why liking the book Pudd'nhead Wilson makes you a terrible person because in order to like that book, you must lose all morals. Then Swain spoke about speech acts and how they can give and strip away power from person to person. Finally, Murphy spoke about the comedic aspects of Pudd'nhead Wilson and the book Native Georgian. She began by explaining and analyzing tall tales then showing how Twain and the author of Native Georgian use them differently.

Samuel Langhorne Clemens Session Reflection
Off the bat I'll confess that I don't really get what Dr. Kittle was talking about, walking fifteen minutes into his lecture might have something to do with that, something about hacking and gaming English? Anyways, I didn't need to be in the loop to be able to understand that he knows how to speak about a subject, I got most of it by the end. And I'm a fan of any Dr. who uses memes.
Moving On! I really enjoyed Prof. Smith's piece on the moral decay of Wilson as he gained status, I feel like that sort of thing happens in the real world all the time although maybe not as Twainish. White people sold because they had a 16th black in them?! I've never read the book, and I might have wanted to, but now that I know the ending....eh oh well. Its a shame. The guy can make a mean graph though.
Professor's Swains section was entertaining in the he hit all the key points about how people go about acting when they want to incorporate power and urgency in their speech. Maybe its that I enjoy historical references but his focus on the part of the book that brought them up made me happy.
As for Prof Murphy's section, the topic was defintely exclusively different from the other two, humor found in older works has always elluded me to an extent so I'm sorry if I couldn't see all of the humor that was touched on. (Although hehe...cut a dog in half.) Tall tales however have always been one of my favorite forms of humor(lying too?) its an exaggeration so large that you have to play along with it just to get out of the situation in one piece. Its also a very good negotiation tactic, I'm told. (High ball low ball anyone? )

Gallery walk
The gallery walk was very helpful with hearing my ideas and where im going with this project spoken out loud. Having to talk to people about what i am writing about will help me with my project. If i can't convey what I am trying to write about speaking it, I probably won't be able to convey what I want to say writing it down. Overall, it was a very helpful exercise in flushing out ideas and seeing what people responded to.
Gallery Walk
I'm very happy we did this. Even though I really didn't git much questions. I enjoyed the process. The Gallery walk helped me formulate my topic and even the way I should structure the paper. Like going in depth in the terminology in anime. It also helped me remember some of the things that are common knowledge to me is not always common knowledge to others. I enjoyed this activity a lot. Plus it was nice to see what others had chosen for there topics as well.
Gallery Walk Reflection
In the beginning of the gallery walk, I wasn't sure how I would say what my inquiry project is on. I knew what I wanted to focus on specifically, but I wasn't sure how I would articulate that to my fellow peers. After I heard others speaking I then knew what I was going to say and the points I wanted to convey. My inquiry project is an exploratory analysis of why the American culture idolizes smaller women and how that affects the psyches of young women. This being one of the main reason so many young women have a negative body image. I also want to highlight the relationship between food and Americans. I think that looking deeper into American's eating habbits and how they view food, will show a correlation with body image. It was also interesting to hear others speak about what their plans are and how they are doing their project.

The gallery walk was helpful in that it helped me clarify what exactly my main points are in my paper and in what order it will all go. I felt that it was helpful for others who were struggling on where exactly to go with their idea and it helped talking to our peers to get other ideas or views of our topic. Overall I feel that this was a useful activity and helped me gain a little more confidence in my research.
Gallery Walk
I found the gallery walk useful, because it helped me narrow down my topic and it gave me some ideas about other areas of my topic that i might want to explore. A few classmates suggested i look into the psychology behind horror movies and i thought that was a helpful contribution. The gallery walk was a help with explaining what specifically i am going to write about, and i enjoyed hearing what others topics were for their inquiry project.

Gallery Walk Reflection
I think the gallery walk was a pretty useful activity. Having to verbally explain my plan to the different groups of people helped me get my ideas straight and it helped me to understand how I should organize my paper. Having to repeat myself 3 times about the project helped me feel more comfortable with my information and showed that I knew what I was talking about at least a little bit. This will help me when it comes to writing the actual paper and again I think it was a good little activity.
Friday's Class
I am not going to lie before the gallery walk I had no idea how I was going to put my paper together. While getting asked questions I was brainstorming while answering questions, it worked though. The gallery walk helped me with writing my proposal for my project. I still am not confident with my research on the history of the sexual abuse and rape. I am hoping it goes well in the end.
Gallery Walk Group:1
The Gallery Walk on Friday was helpful in my attempt to find a specific topic to write about. I'm still pretty iffy about my subject, but I have greater confidence in my knowledge on the information needed for my paper. I am now extremely interested in the advirtising aspect of consumerism. I also got wonderful feedback on my project. I was introduced to more ideas on my projects and given constructive feedback on my subject. For example, a peer told me that I should include how we actually need consumerism to keep the economy steady.

Friday's class
Friday’s class gave me a better understanding on how to do
my proposal and what topics of my research I should talk about for Monday’s
class. It helped because it made me less nervous about how huge this assignment
is. It is a good project which I am happy to do because it will expand my mind
on topics I don’t think of on a daily basis.
Friday's talk
The approach I’m going to take for my research prompt will be about the use of drone throughout the history of war. Drone being UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle), at first I’ll try to write about the history of how they came to exist, when they were used and how they are being used. I’ll also try to talk about the ethical use and the benefit and liability of the use of them in war. At the moment my sources are all over the place with but I’m planning to sort out which is the best and most reliable because I find the subject about technology difficult hard to narrow down because they’re always keep advancing.
Gallery Walk
I already knew what I was going to do my proposal on, so the gallery walk wasn't very difficult. It did though get me to think sooner about the order my paper would be written in, I had to recall some of the information I've learned on my topic. Over all it was a nice exercise to keep us on our toes. At first I thought that if anything, repeating the same thing to everyone that passed by would eventually lead me to spout gibberish but it reminded me that I really am fond of my topic, environmental affects on crime.
Friday's class
So fridays class was pretty interesting to me. It kind of made me really think about what I was going to say and talk about. I wasn't completely sure before Friday on how I was going to structure my piece, but now I am pretty positive about it and think it will turn out great.
Gallery Group 1
In class Friday was the first time I actually put in words what why Inquiry project is about, and what I am researching. I realized that I have one big focus, and small sub focuses. I also saw that with other people too. This process also made me realize the purpose of my topic, and why it is important. It helped when I was asked questions that I haven't thought about myself. It was nice hearing from other students researching similar topics. Overall this was a beneficial process.
Fridays class was helpful
I was surprised how much my paper is planned out now. I had a pretty good understanding of the layout before Fridays class but it was helpful being able to put it into words. My topic of firefighter will be split up into two parts; First part focusing on the changes of the fire department and the second will be about the traditions that have remained since the start of the fire departments. It will be interesting to see how it comes together.
Project reponse!
So Friday was actually very interesting. I have to say I really enjoyed talking to people about my topic and I also loved vocalizing it so I got a better understanding of what I was doing. It was interesting to see peoples reactions to my topic. I do have to say I felt a little awkward talking about sex toys in front of a large group of people but I know if I acted like I felt weird I think everyone else would so I belive I handled myself rather well. The walk through really made me decide on a clear direction for my project which was nice. I also enjoyed the feedback from my classmates it really helped push through some even better ideas. I think I did a good job at giving my classmates facts as well as keep the conversation interesting for them. So all in all it was extremely helpful and I was able to get some points across and also was able to help myself better understand my topic as well as hopefully help others as I went around and talked to other people about their projects.
Reflection of Friday's interactions
In class when we had to talk about our inquiry research topics, I found it very useful because it really made me think about what I want to focus on in my topic and what more I should research. Some students asked really helpful questions that made me rethink about what it is that I want people to get from my paper and what I want them to know. I basically explained my topic to the students and explained what I have learned and researched and what some of my research questions are. Seeing what certain students' thoughts on my questions helped me to see what would be important to focus on and what people want to know about. Also I am very interested in interviewing someone who could give me a lot of insight on the culture of metal up here in Chico. Moreover, hearing everyone elses' research topics were very interesting as well and now I have a better sense of how I will be organizing my paper.

Soccer Helps Bring People Together
My inquiry project is on how soccer helps bring people together. It helps break racial barriers and it gives people a reason to get along. So far my research has come along very well. The only hard part so far is finding scholarly articles or other high credible sources. The good thing is that I really believe in what I am talking about mainly because I love and know a lot about the soccer. Now I am just going to have to find more research to back up my claim
