Art
Shirin Neshat raises a concern for our Western culture to use art only for entertainment. In her Iranian culture art is used to communicate. In Iran the government is very strict, and they don't have freedom speech like we do. Artists who use art to protest or reveal how they feel are in danger. Artists speak for the overall people and communicate for them. People in America take for granted our freedom of speech, and our unalienable rights that other countries don't have. Shirin is also a feminist, because women in Iran are not equals and have a lot of restrictions. Women in America may not feel like they're always equals, but us women have a lot of rights that other women aren't granted in other countries like Iran.
