In V for Vendetta people do not act against the government
to change what is happening, but why is that?
Mainly due to fear the people are afraid of their government and do not
want to be tortured or killed. V said at
the start of the movie, “People shouldn’t be afraid of their governments,
governments should be afraid of their people.”
One person can’t always make a difference but with a large group of
people they can change the world. People
are afraid to take risks even if they have a firm belief in something, they
don’t act always. This can be related to
William F. Buckley’s “Why Don’t We Complain?” People choose not to complain
about things because they know better to or are too polite too. It is just like in V for Vendetta with no one
standing up to the government, but V inspires the people of Britain to rise up
against their government. The people don’t
want to be oppressed any longer from the government but haven’t done anything
about it until V acted.
This really shows the people of Britain's point of view. They do not want to be controlled by their government but won't do anything to change it. You used a very good comparison. Why do we complain if we are too afraid to do something about it
ReplyDeleteThis is a really good point. I think plenty of people feel that they should be able to say something or do something if the government is doing right, but most don't step up. I agree, why do we feel the need to say something but not actually take action.
