Kin Jaxon's Peer Responses
Through the years of writing many essays, teachers would always have that one day where we would "peer edit" each others papers. Unfortunately I always found these peer edits to not be very beneficial because many of my fellow classmates would never take the time to thoroughly help improve my paper. Students would always "edit" my essay by fixing grammatical errors. That's very helpful and all, except for the fact that I want pure commentary on how my essay could truly be improved, and Kim Jaxon definitely focuses on these points that make peer edits actually worth while. Thus, I loved that Jaxon mentioned in this article " peer response is all about the content and ideas of the draft essay." I like the idea that 2-3 helpful suggestions are a good idea when reviewing, also to come back to the paper because more often than not it gets very overwhelming working on an essay and taking a refresher and coming back to the paper can help spur other points that you want to focus on in your paper. Moreover, Jaxon's tips on peer editing was beneficial to myself as a peer because now I know more ways to be a better editor to my peers, as we all want that extra insight to improve papers.
