Ted Talk Michael Brambila
So watching to the ted talk about texting really opened my eyes to the fact that people are overeating when it comes to the idea of language being dumbed down. I thought his strongest point was when he showed the little excerpts from teachers of different time periods. I mean I feel like we never really write a real paper like the way we text. I think its just a short cut to write people in day to day conversation and nothing more. I think it was also great when he talked about stereotypes in terms of what amazing language sounds like. This whole idea that people talk like the show DownTon Abbey show all the time is very silly to me. I mean I know I don't but I have a very interesting speech pattern. All in all this ted talk opened my eyes to why this idea is so false. I mean I have heard this argument time and time again and it was nice to see a guy find reasons why this is so false.
