In this weeks TEDTalk John McWhorter talks about how writing has developed throughout the years. He talks about how writing and language are not the same thing because nobody really talks the way they write. People only write in the same way that they actually talk while texting. I found it interesting that through all of history people complain about other people's way of writing because it has developed into something else than what they're used to. I also like how he mentioned the way people use 'lol' in their conversations when there isn't even anything funny like, "Hi lol". So, I guess this kind of contradicts what he said about talking the way we text, because people don't usually start laughing right after a simple greeting.
