Why Jhonny Reading Response
For a text that didn't have college students as its audience, I still found it easy to understand. This text talks about the literary crisis in America that relates to students ability to read and write. It first states that Americas ability to read and write has been declining since the 1800s. People think that pop culture, poorly constructed assessments just to name two, are to blame. A proposed solution is to stop scaring people with the literacy crisis itself. I found this text simple, easy to understand, and infirmaries. I agree with the author and have an additional comment for the solution. I believe the teachers themselves should be taught how to teach and also earn more salary as incentive for them to perform better. Although this text doesn't teach you how to read and write better, its a good context for learning more about the literary crisis and the history of it.
