This link is to a youtube video of William Cooper doing a speech on fear of speaking out. Cooper gives an example on how one man stopped 7 mutilating machines in their steps, because the man did not believe in the cause and did not support the death tolls to be counted in the future. This video is a perfect example of what V for Vendetta is trying to explain to its audience. The connection between the youtube clip and the film is the use of fear to control society.
Many people who do not believe that their country's intentions are pure and honest, usually choose to do nothing. They think they can hide out in some rural area where they don't have to deal with it, when in reality they are just adding to the problem. If we know something is wrong or something can be done to fix our society then we must speak out against the problems. Many people fear the mutilation you receive by others when trying to act out for your cause. People tend to do this, because they too fear being outcasted by society. Many people also fear rejection of their opinions, and if we all continue to operate in these manors then nothing will ever change for the better. The people who have power will stay in power, and they will suck all the resources they can out of us. The biggest thing about this issue, is that you do not need to speak out against the world, you just need to stand up for what you believe in and be confident in your own voice of opinion.
